Thunder has a one-piece rim. It's a biotch to change tires or fix a flat. I've also done it on an Ultra with the split rim, tubed tire.

Much, much, much easier. For tjhe life of me I don't get what the big "upgrade" the single rim, tubeless tire is that MM touts in the marketing literature for the Thunder and the III. Yep the wheel diameter in the controller is correctly set to 11 inch diameter. I did not know the Thunder used a different wheel design, that is dumb. Changing a flat on my Dualtron II Ex was a piece of cake because of the split hub design, no idea why they would go away from it unless the fatter tire makes it problematic.

I don't get it either. I have an Ultra too, and it's basically the same ride without some bells and whistles. In terms of the motors and wheel size, they're the same. But the Ultra has the split rim, which made putting street tires on the Ultra comes with off-road knobbies was a piece of cake. I love the Thunder -- like it more than the Ultra, except that rim. From what I have seen, the Bird rideshare scooter is probably the ES1, and they are flooding major metropolitan areas like parts of Los Angeles and other cities.

Sorry for all the questions, new to this world of ninebots, a noob. If you can direct me to a place that answers how these scooters and parts work Id appreciate it. Thank you. I get the impression that Ninebot is trying to prevent imitation products from being used. There was a thread about battery packs for the Minis that fit perfectly but they couldn't communicate with the motherboard like a genuine Ninebot battery, so the speed was limited to very slow speed.

I think it is a liability issue. I'm running into the exact same problem, I needed to change the motherboard and I'm running into an error code If you replaced the dashboard with a new one, you must do this process with it apart not in the tube. The bluetooth has to communicate to the controller board and they all must have same versions of software on the EEPROM to communicate correctly. I also have an error 35 after replacing the control board with one bought off of eBay.

This degrades over time and needs to be replaced. You could just build a solder bridge across the points, but this will increase your chances of a complete controller board burn-out.

Hope this helps. So I bridged the resistor, but then I noticed that there were blown up circuits on the back side of the board.

I tried to fix those with solder but when I wanted to connect the battery I had a massive spark so obviously something is shorted. Maybe a FET is shorted? I'm not a specialist. I do recommend taking your scooter completely apart and getting it to work in pieces on the floor before reassembling it and trying to have a go at it.
